Saving time or effort does not inherently erode discipline, competence, or standards. People routinely use efficient methods to free up resources for more meaningful or demanding work, while still making deliberate, high-quality choices. Treating every easier option as a path to decline is an unsupported generalization that ignores the many cases where efficiency improves results rather than diminishing them.
